JB IV50 - Austrian Trip to Obertauern About JB IV50 in the words of Martyn Bowden Managing Director of Select School Travel: At the beginning of August, I lost my father, John Bowden, who was the founder of Select, among other school travel companies, and was truly one of the pioneers in the world of school travel. The boy born in South Wales in 1947 did good, achieving simply through his pure grit and determination. His passion for travel was infectious; he wanted every person to have the opportunity to experience it, no matter their background. Skiing was especially close to his ...
Get Prepared! Top Tips for Your School Ski Trip The school ski season is underway! The Select School Skiing team has put together some useful resort tips for school ski party leaders to help you on your way: 1) Give every pupil on the trip a pocket-sized card of essential information: hotel name and telephone number, school emergency contact details, space to enter ski and boot numbers. 2) Looking after the group can be a tiring job. The most effective way we see trips run is by splitting the group into teams of 8-10 students with a staff member in charge of each one. The party leader can t ...

There has been some especially heavy snow in the far south-west Alps, with Isola 2000 and Prato Nevoso benefitting from another 40-50 cm at th ...
School Ski Trips - Showcasing Norway An easy 2 hour flight direct from Gatwick takes us to Bergen, on the west coast of Norway. We love Norway as a school ski destination and here's why: Following a scenic two hour drive north from Bergen airport we arrive in Myrkdalen. While we were told in advance that the snow was good, we really didn’t expect to see so much of it. It was after all the end of April, and the resort height is 450m. But, we’re not in the Alps – in fact, we’re around 1300 miles north of Salzburg so forget about resort height, and pretty much all of the other ski f ...

Where to take a school ski trip at Easter When considering your next school ski trip, Easter can be a great option for schools only able to gain permission to travel out of term-time. Prices are much more accessible for many students than the busy February half term period, and Easter skiing also benefits from warmer temperatures and sunny slopes. When looking at which Easter resort to choose, there are two main things to consider: 1. The altitude – choose a high resort, one with a glacier will give extra security. 2. A resort with a reputation for lots of snow – either with excellent ...
